What is the London Review Book Box?
The London Review Book Box is a book curation service. Each month you will be sent a paperback novel or story collection, selected by the expert booksellers at the London Review Bookshop in Bloomsbury. We’ll only send you books we love, books that we think deserve a wider audience and that reflect the diverse range on our shelves at the Bookshop.
London Review Book Boxes are available as monthly rolling subscriptions, or you can make a one-off advance payment for either 3 or 6 months.
What can I expect in my box?
The beautifully wrapped package inside your monthly box will include a paperback novel or story collection chosen by the London Review Bookshop, a note from us explaining why we chose it, a bespoke illustrated bookmark and some other special gifts. The extras can be anything from branded merchandise from the LRB Store to one-off seasonal items. The RRP of your Box will always be at least £15.
What type of books will I receive?
Each box will contain a paperback work of fiction that we love.
What if I have that book already?
We don't offer returns – sorry! – but why not pass the book on to a friend?
What is the difference between the subscriptions and the one-off boxes?
We sometimes offer one-off themed boxes that you can buy for yourself or as a gift. The contents of these boxes will be clearly labelled on the site and are dispatched as soon as they are ordered.
Our subscription boxes are monthly boxes containing a surprise book of our choice. You can pay for them on a rolling monthly basis, or make a one-off advance payment for either 3 or 6 months.
Will the box fit through a letterbox?
Unfortunately there is no standard letterbox size mandated in the UK, so we can't guarantee this 100%. However, we have looked at measurement suggestions given by Royal Mail alongside choosing packaging sold as letterbox-friendly to try to make sure that the box will fit through most letterboxes. The size of each subscription box is 350mm x 245mm x 22mm.
Do you deliver internationally?
We currently deliver to the UK and Europe – we hope to deliver to the rest of the world in the near future, if there's enough demand. Just email us at email@example.com if you would like to express your interest in international deliveries.
We do offer some special one-off boxes containing a selection of books and gifts (found in "Limited Edition Boxes" on our site), and these are available to purchase anywhere in the world.
How do I cancel my subscription?
If you are on a rolling monthly subscription then just cancel any time before the 15th and you won’t get the next month's box (if you cancel by 15 February, for example, then you will not receive the March box). You can cancel by going to your account page, or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will cancel it on your behalf.
You cannot cancel a 3 or 6-month subscription early as these are pre-paid options.
When will you send my books?
All subscription box orders will be sent out at the beginning of each month. They are sent using Royal Mail, and you should receive your book by the 5th of each month in the UK. If you place your order before the 15th of the month you will receive your first box at the beginning of the next month.
Can I change the delivery address for my subscription?
Yes. You can update your details in your account.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Choose the one month option with recurring payments.
Is there an additional charge for postage?
UK mainland postage is included in the cost of your subscription package.
What happens if I don't receive my books?
If you haven’t received your book by the 5th of the month, please contact us and we will arrange for a replacement to be sent as soon as possible.
Can I choose when my subscription starts?
Not at the moment. All orders placed on or before the 15th of the month will receive their first book the next month. Any orders placed on or after the 16th of the month will see their subscriptions activated the following month. (If you place your order on 15 January, your subscription will start in February. If you place your order on 16 January, your subscription will start in March.)
